Merit Controls Sets Up for Strategic Growth
With Strong Project Management, Engineering and Technology Teams, New Business Development VP is Poised to Take Company to the Next Level
Houston, Texas and Clinton, NJ — July 12, 2021 — Merit Controls, the leading provider of grid integration products and services for utility-scale applications, has made yet another significant addition to its growing team by hiring Gio Hwang as vice president of business development.
Gio is a seasoned executive with nearly 20 years of experience in automation technology and the renewable energy industry. With a B.S. in electrical engineering, he started at National Instruments and fast-tracked his career under the CEO’s mentorship, making his way up to managing director where he held full profit & loss responsibility and operations for one of the company’s largest branches. He most recently served as director and head of strategy and product management at global energy storage integrator DOOSAN GRIDTECH, where he headed up corporate strategy planning and product development for the company’s advanced controls software business.
Now, Gio’s experience and knowledge ensures he is successfully positioned for his new role at Merit Controls.

As vice president of business development, Gio will be responsible for direct sales of Merit’s SCADA, power plant control (PPC) and network solutions, as well as building a strong sales team.
